About The Believe Foundation

The Believe Foundation has been established to provide life changing opportunities and challenges to youth whose lives to date have taken an unconventional path.

These youth are all approaching ‘decision points’ in their lives where they will make key decisions that will determine the path of their futures and in the large majority of cases lack role models to assist them as they make these critical decisions.

The aim of the a Believe Foundation is to not just to fund these youth to partake in the challenges, but also provide a network of ‘mentors’ who will train with these young men and women in the lead up to the events and seek to assist them to prepare for employment at the completion of the challenge.

Team members will take as much benefit from the lead up to the challenge or event as they will from completing the event on the day.

It will also be likely that many of the young team members, having people believe in them will be a rare or new experience.

Join us on the journey with a group of young men and women as they prepare for and complete the Motatapu Mountain Bike Challenge in 2019.

In 2016, I fulfilled a long held desire to complete the 46km Motatapu mountain bike event.

I took immense personal satisfaction and a renewed level of personal confidence from completing the event..

Upon reflection in subsequent weeks, I thought about the ‘huge benefits’ that this event could offer to a wider group of young people, who would not ordinarily be able to compete due to the costs involved in preparing for and competing the event.

I set about to procure funding for 5 young people to complete Motatapu in 2017, and alongside the parties who have contributed financially, we look forward to seeing their lives positively changed as a result.

I love bikes and I am as happy on the seat of a mountain bike or a road bike - it really doesn't worry me.

As General Manager of the Christchurch Star Group, my days are busy and I have plenty of stressful challenges in my job.

Cycling gives me the opportunity to leave the stress behind and achieve a different style of challenge.

Providing opportunities to and belief in these young men and women from challenged backgrounds will potentially be life changing.

I am excited to be involved with the Believe Foundation.
